Vacuum drying oven is a kind of laboratory equipment for drying and heating treatment under vacuum environment, specially designed for drying heat-sensitive, easy to decompose and easy to oxidise substances, when working, it can keep a certain degree of vacuum in the working chamber, especially some items with complex composition can also be dried quickly.
For heat-sensitive materials, a vacuum drying oven is ideal for low-temperature, oxidation-free drying by lowering the boiling point of water.
For high-throughput applications requiring faster drying of non-sensitive materials, a standard convection oven is more suitable, though it risks damaging heat-sensitive or oxygen-reactive substances.
Pros: Dries samples at lower temperatures, preventing degradation of sensitive materials; minimizes oxidation, protecting compounds from air; reaches all moisture in a short time
Cons: Requires a vacuum pump and has higher initial cost than standard ovens; batch processing can have low throughput.
Pros: Simple, low-cost solution for general drying applications; widely available and easy to use.
Cons: Dries at ambient pressure, increasing oxidation risk; less efficient than vacuum or convection methods for some applications.
