Description

Mercuric Sulphate AR 500g

Mercuric Sulphate AR (Analytical Reagent grade) is used as a chemical reagent for precise analytical tasks, including redox titrations and the determination of sulfate ions.
Its high purity makes it suitable for preparing specific reference electrodes, such as the saturated calomel electrode. It also functions as a catalyst in the production of acetaldehyde from acetylene and in the oxymercuration-demercuration process for hydrating alkenes.

Mercuric Sulphate AR 500g Analytical & Laboratory Uses
Redox Titrations:
Due to its oxidizing properties, it’s a valuable reagent in redox titrations.
Sulfate Ion Determination:
It is employed in tests to determine the presence and amount of sulfate ions in a sample.
Reference Electrode Preparation:
Its high purity allows for the preparation of specific reference electrodes.
Quality Standard:
AR grade chemicals, like Mercuric Sulphate AR, meet stringent purity standards for use in analytical and laboratory settings.
Industrial & Catalytic Uses
Acetaldehyde Production: It acts as a catalyst in the conversion of acetylene to acetaldehyde.
Oxymercuration-Demercuration: It is used as a catalyst in the oxymercuration-demercuration reaction, which is crucial for the hydration of alkenes to form alcohols.
