Description
Cyclohexane CP Grade 2.5L
CP grade” typically refers to “Chemically Pure” grade, meaning it is a high-purity chemical suitable for general laboratory work or specific industrial applications where high purity is required but not as stringent as reagent, ACS, or HPLC grades

. The uses for CP grade cyclohexane are generally the same as for other high-purity grades, including:

Cyclohexane CP Grade 2.5L Primary Industrial Uses
The vast majority of all cyclohexane produced is used as a chemical intermediate in the production of nylon precursors.
  • Nylon Manufacturing: It is a key raw material for making adipic acid and caprolactam, which are then polymerized to produce nylon 6 and nylon 6,6 for use in a variety of products such as clothing, carpets, and thermoplastics.
Laboratory and Solvent Applications
Due to its high purity, CP grade cyclohexane is suitable for various laboratory and solvent applications:
    • Solvent: It is used as a non-polar organic solvent for dissolving fats, waxes, oils, resins, lacquers, and crude rubber.
    • Recrystallization: It is frequently used as a recrystallization solvent in the lab, as many organic compounds dissolve well in hot cyclohexane but poorly when cold.
  • Chemical Synthesis: It can serve as a starting reagent for various organic synthesis processes.
  • Plasticizers & Synthetic Lubricants: Adipic acid produced from cyclohexane is used to manufacture esters for plasticizers and synthetic lubricants.
Other Niche Uses
  • Calibration: It is used for calibrating differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) instruments due to a convenient crystal-crystal transition at a specific low temperature.
  • Surface Coatings: It can be used in the manufacturing of perfumes and during surface coating operations.
  • Cyclohexane CP Grade 2.5L
